Properties and Storage
- Concentration: Protein concentration is determined by measuring the absorbance at 280 nm using molar absorption coefficient 9800 M-1 cm-1.
- Purity: 12% reducing SDS PAGE confirms ≥97% purity. RP-HPLC at 220 nm confirms ≥97 % purity.
- Specific activity ≥ 0.35 units/μL protein.
- Unit Definition: One unit of Ribonuclease A will cause a decrease of 100% per minute in the value of E0 – Ef at pH 5.0 at 25°C for the reaction: Ribonucleic acid + water → Oligonucleotides in the presence of RNase A, where E is the absorbance at 300 nm with path length of 1 cm.
- Nonspecific Endonuclease Activity No detectable degradation is observed when RNase A is incubated with supercoiled plasmid DNA and analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis.
- Protease Activity No detectable degradation of protease substrate is observed when RNase A is incubated with protease substrate and analyzed by fluorescence.
- Store at –20°C
Mix the tube gently before use

Product Description
Recombinant RNase A is produced recombinantly by expressing gene for RNase A from Bos taurus in E. Coli. The product is then purified using proprietary purification techniques developed by Edna.
The product is Dnase, protease free and specifically degrades RNA.Source: An E. coli strain that carries the RNase A gene from Bos Taurus. This product is guaranteed bovine-free.
Recombinant RNase A is ideal for applications that require bovine-free products. It is also intended for critical applications when the absence of DNase and other nonspecific nuclease activities in the RNase preparation is essential. RNase A is a ribonuclease that specifically cleaves 3'of U and C residues.
