T4 DNA Ligase catalyzes the formation of phosphodiester bonds between 5' and 3' termini in double stranded DNA using ATP as a cofactor. The enzyme can be used for ligation of both blunt and sticky ends as well as single-stranded DNA nick repair. Edna T4 DNA Ligase products are recombinantly produced in E. coli and thus are free from contaminating nucleases, offering robust and reliable ligation activity.
The Rapid /Blunt-End Ligation Kit comes with custom ligation buffer and PEG-4000, enabling 10 minute ligation reactions at room temperature. Ligation efficiency is equal to that obtained by normal 1-2 hour ligations with T4 DNA Ligase under standard conditions for sticky-end ligation, and significantly enhanced for blunt-end ligation.
