Ultra-RNase A, Recombinant

Cloned from Bos Taurus, overexpressed in E. coli

RNase A is an endoribonuclease routinely used for removal of RNA during DNA isolation procedures. RNase A products from Edna are 100% recombinant and free of any contaminating nucleases.

Through extensive purification and refolding steps, Edna’s Ultra-RNase A has 2-3x the activity in Kunitz units per mg compared to competing products in the market extracted from bovine pancreas.

Product Information

RNase A is an endoribonuclease routinely used for removal of RNA during DNA isolation procedures.

RNase A products from Edna are 100% recombinant and free of other nucleases. The product is well-suited to specialty applications such as gene therapy research as the risk of introducing pathogens is minimized.

Through extensive purification and refolding steps, Edna’s Ultra-RNase A has 3x the activity in Kunitz units per mg compared to competing products in the market extracted from bovine pancreas.

What's In The Box:

The product includes one vial of recombinant enzyme.

Highlights:

  • Cloned from bovine pancreas and recombinantly produced in E. coli and purified to >99% purity

  • Refolded in-vitro and purified to remove non-active forms

  • 3x activity in Kunitz units/mg compared to competing non-recombinant products

  • Well suited for routine molecular biology applications as well as specialized work that requires bovine-free products

Product Source:

An E. coli strain that carries the RNase A gene from Bos Taurus.

Properties and Storage

Unit Definition: One unit of Ribonuclease A activity will cause a decrease of 100% per minute in the value of E0 – Ef at pH 5.0 at 25°C for the reaction Ribonucleic acid + water --> Oligonucleotides in the presence of RNase A, where E is the absorbance at 300 nm with path length of 1 cm.

Concentration: 1 mg/mL

Storage Temperature: -20 °C

Molecular Weight: 13.7 kDa

Applications

Standard Applications:

  • Plasmid and genomic DNA preparation

  • Removal of RNA from recombinant protein preparations

  • In preparing DNA for real time PCR

  • In DNA preparations for sequencing

In addition, Edna Ultra-RNase A products have a unique range of advantages:

  • Rigorously tested against nonspecific nuclease and protease activity

  • Second-step purification post-refolding to ensure that only maximally active refolded protein is present in the final formulation

  • Highly active

  • Useful for specialty applications requiring bovine-free products such as gene therapy research
